Remanufacturing brings new life to aging devices while reducing waste
Scheduled to commence operations in August 2026, the upcoming state-of-the-art facility will produce remanufactured multifunction printers from across the Asia-Pacific region. This move promotes resource circulation and reduces environmental impact in the area. This initiative, formalized through a contract signing with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), underscores FUJIFILM's commitment to industrializing a circular economy and sustainability.

Repackaged multifunction printer |
The CMC will transform multifunction printers collected from the Asia-Pacific region into high-quality, remanufactured devices that meet the same rigorous standards as brand-new products. The process involves disassembling, cleaning, and inspecting components to identify reusable parts, which are then repaired and reassembled. With a maximum parts reuse rate of 84 percent (by weight), these remanufactured printers are assigned new manufacturing dates, product codes, and serial numbers, ensuring they perform like brand-new machines while significantly reducing resource consumption and CO2 emissions.

To ensure precision in the remanufacturing process, FUJIFILM Business Innovation is leveraging FOPH's advanced manufacturing technology and skilled workforce. The facility draws on expertise developed through the production of precision equipment, such as interchangeable lenses for digital cameras, and incorporates Japan's proven recycling technologies to maintain consistent quality. This initiative not only reduces waste but also fosters local talent and development, with FUJIFILM training FOPH personnel to lead remanufacturing efforts in the region.

FUJFILM in agreement with PEZA |
This makes it the first CMC in ASEAN. The Philippines was chosen because of its strategic geographical advantage and optimized logistics and supply chains. This enables FUJIFILM to efficiently collect used devices and distribute remanufactured printers across the region.
The benefits include the access given to Companies to high-quality, cost-effective multifunction printers that align with sustainability goals, meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly office solutions. By reusing up to 84 percent of components, FUJIFILM reduces the need for virgin materials, lowers production costs, and minimizes waste.
For the Asia-Pacific region, the CMC strengthens local economies by creating jobs and fostering skill development. It also positions the Philippines as a leader in sustainable manufacturing, attracting investment and reinforcing the country's role in the global circular economy.
