HUAWEI XMAGE 2025 now open

All HUAWEI smartphone users can now join the HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2025 annual photography competition until September 15, 2025.

Participants can submit up to 30 entries, including photos and videos.

Note that all entries must be captured using a HUAWEI smartphone. Images should be in JPG, JPEG, or PNG file format under 30 MB.

Videos should be MP4 under 400 MB, with their original EXIF data intact.

Entries can be submitted via the XMAGE Awards website, HUAWEI Community, or My HUAWEI app using a HUAWEI ID.

Photographers can also share their work on Instagram by posting with #HUAWEIXMAGE or following @huaweixmageawards. Ensure that the profile of the photographer is set to public.

The prizes

This year, three (3) will be crowned Grand Prize winners. Each will take home USD 10,000 (around PHP 570.9K). 97 other winners will get USD 1500 (around PHP 85.6K) each.

  • Chen Xiaobo - Leading editor at Xinhua News Agency and imaging researcher
  • Wang Chuan - Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts; artist
  • Chen Jie - Documentary photographer
  • Nichole Fernandez - Visual sociologist
  • Florence Bourgeois - Director of Paris Photo
  • Shoair Mavlian - Director of The Photographers' Gallery
  • Fannie Escoulen - Curator of visual arts
  • Li Changzhu - Chief Strategy Officer, Huawei Health Team

Outstanding works will be compiled for XMAGE 100, the company's curated global "showcase of exceptional mobile photography". HUAWEI said that the selected pieces will be featured in international exhibitions, HUAWEI content campaigns, and future events.

Justin Mendoza, a Filipino account manager, emerged as one of the three Grand winners with his shot called "Pick a Beak" taken on a HUAWEI P30 Pro. It portrays a pelican standing behind a fisherman, and earned high praise from the panel of international judges.

Meanwhile, multimedia coordinator Ferdinand Bendana's "Eagle's Eye" shot on the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro won the prestigious Best of Mate Series award.

This year's top HUAWEI camera phones are the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro (PHP 59,999 SRP) and Pura 80 Ultra (PHP 89,999 SRP).


To those who missed it, the Pura 80 Ultra is equipped with the first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera, combining a large 1/1.28-inch sensor with two lenses: a 50MP 3.7x telephoto for portraits and a 12.5MP 9.4x telephoto for long-range shots—both with Sensor Shift OIS.

It also features a top-tier 50MP 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR Camera with variable aperture (f/1.6–f/1.4), a 40MP ultra-wide lens, and a 1.5M Spectral Channels Ultra Chroma Camera.
