Social Security System unveils MySSS ID and Debit card

Security, Convenience, and Seamless Integration?

This innovative dual-function card combines an official identification document with a fully integrated debit card, replacing the outdated Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) card. It features an embedded EMV chip and biometric verification. It is integrated directly with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) via the National ID eVerify system. The new card is designed to simplify disbursements, loan processing, and everyday transactions for SSS members, pensioners, and claimants.

As such, it is a valid ID for SSS-related transactions and is accepted as a general ID by other government agencies or private entities, depending on their policies.

The new card is made for Filipinos grappling with fragmented financial services. The new MySSS card is expected to eliminate the need for separate bank enrollments under the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM). It can link to the user's new savings account to the SSS, ensuring swift deposits of benefits and proceeds directly into your pocket.

How the mySSS Card Works:

1. Account Linking - Upon approval, users can pick which bank's savings account becomes their primary SSS disbursement channel. Benefits will flow directly to the chosen account, with real-time notifications via email and the My.SSS app.

2. Secure Transactions - The EMV chip enables contactless payments and ATM withdrawals. Biometrics confirm the user's identity for high-value SSS claims, which should reduce errors and delays.

3. Account Management - If the user closes or switches accounts, SSS deactivates the old card and reactivates prior DAEM-enrolled options or new ones seamlessly.

Who is eligible to apply for the MySSS Card?

1. Active SSS members, prior registrants, pensioners, individual claimants, and representative payees.

Requirements:

1. Permanent SS number.
2. Active registration on the My.SSS Portal
3. Updated local addresses, mobile number, and email in SSS records
4. Valid PSA/PhilSys National ID registration

How to apply for the MySSS Card:

1. Initiate the application via the My.SSS Portal at www.sss.gov.ph.
2. Navigate to 'Services' then select 'MySSS Card'.
3. Verify and update their personal details.
4. Give consent to National ID eVerify for identity checks and photo usage.
5. Complete a facial scan and then select their partner bank.
6. Submit their application and await email confirmation.
7. They must then download their chosen bank's app or visit their preferred branch.
8. They must undergo verification and pay any card insurance fees
9. Wait for the SMS or app notification that their card is ready.

As of this article's writing, only the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation has rolled out as the service's inaugural partner and as the first to issue cards via DiskarTech's digital platform. Asia United Bank, China Bank, and Union Bank of the Philippines will soon join the list of partner banks.
