Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra ties DxOMark camera score of OPPO X8 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro (2024)

The DxOMark camera rating of the new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is out, and it is several points ahead of its predecessor.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra recorded a Photo score of 160 and a Video score of 153 for an average rating of 157 points. In comparison, the Galaxy S25 Ultra from last year scored 151 points.

The testing lab noted clear gains over the previous generation—better low-light detail, reduced noise, and more natural-looking shots. Colors are pleasant and fairly accurate, with a strong balance between detail and noise reduction. Zoom performance is versatile too, delivering consistent quality across ranges.

However, the device still struggles with visible noise in certain indoor and low-light conditions, and autofocus can occasionally be unreliable—particularly in dim environments or when using the ultra-wide camera. While video performance has improved, it remains slightly behind the flagship competitors.

In fact, the Galaxy S26 Ultra only holds the 18th spot worldwide—significantly lower than much of the competition.

This rating is only good enough to match 2023 to 2024 phones like the OPPO Find X7 Ultra, OPPO Find X8 Pro, HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro+, and the Apple iPhone 16 Pro—all with 157 points. 

At the DxOMark rankings, it is nowhere near the top 4 heavy hitters like the Apple iPhone 17 Pro (168 points), OPPO Find X8 Ultra (168 points), vivo X300 Pro (171 points), and HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra (175 points).

To achieve this rating, Samsung equipped the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a 200MP wide sensor with an f/1.4 aperture, a 50MP f/1.9 ultra-wide camera, a 50MP f/2.9 5x telephoto, a 10MP f/2.4 3x telephoto, and an LED flash.
