Intelligent assistant next to your eyes

The wearable runs on Android XR and is being developed in partnership with eyewear labels Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, each contributing a distinct design for the product lineup.

The companies have not yet disclosed full hardware specifications, though both confirmed a set of core capabilities the glasses are intended to support.

Users would be able to access the Gemini AI assistant through voice commands without the use of their hands, receive turn-by-turn navigation, locate nearby points of interest, and get real-time personalized recommendations.

On the productivity side, the glasses are said to support message notification summaries, calendar event creation, and the ability to place orders.

Real-time conversation translation is also among the listed features, along with instant on-screen text and signage translation powered by the built-in camera. That same camera would be capable of capturing photos and videos.

Like other smart glasses currently available, the device is designed to work as a companion to a paired smartphone rather than as a standalone unit. Official imagery shows the glasses fitted with a single camera and an LED indicator light.

Samsung and Google AI Smart Glasses key features:

  • Voice-activated AI - Hands-free access to Google Gemini via voice commands
  • Navigation - Real-time, turn-by-turn directions and nearby place discovery
  • Smart notifications - Summarized message alerts and calendar event creation
  • Real-time translation - Supports live conversation translation and on-screen text/sign translation
  • Built-in camera - Captures photos and videos; also powers translation features
  • Personalized recommendations – AI-driven suggestions delivered in real time
  • Order placement - Ability to place orders directly through the glasses
  • Companion device - Pairs with a smartphone; not a standalone unit
  • Two design options - One by Gentle Monster, one by Warby Parker
  • Runs Android XR - Samsung and Google's extended reality platform

A commercial release is targeted for later this fall, with further details from Samsung and Google expected in the months ahead.
