Drones that can detect floods in 2 hours?

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said they would utilize AI-powered drones to ramp up evacuation efforts in communities ahead of the flood.

We can project two hours before where the big floods will hit, Moreno told reporters.

Manila, especially parts of España Boulevard, is known for knee-deep flood water, and sometimes even reaching waist level during heavy rains.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon also bared the plan to establish a detention basin in Earnshaw Street in Manila City to minimize flooding in the area. Dizon said the drainage system has not been upgraded since the 1950s.

A detention basin is designed to temporarily or permanently store floodwaters and manage flow during rain or flooding.
