Portable Bluetooth speakers have a reputation problem: either they're so small that they sound terrible, or they're bulky enough that carrying them defeats the purpose. So when we got our hands on the TOZO SoundGo, we were curious but cautious.

Meet TOZO SoundGo
At just 178 grams and about the size of your palm, the TOZO SoundGo feels almost too portable to pack real audio quality. But, spoiler alert: it actually does! Here's what we discovered.
Unboxing/Accessories

Inside you'll find the speaker itself, a USB to Type-C cable, and a user guide. It's a pretty straightforward setup that's common to most portable speakers.
Build Quality/Design
The TOZO SoundGo is quite impressive in how thoughtfully it's designed despite being made of hard plastic. The 360-degree textured fabric wrapped around it gives it a nice grip and a minimalist aesthetic. For something this light and affordable, you'd expect the audio to suffer because of the materials. But it doesn't––more on this later.

Design of the speaker
The design is also super practical. There's a memory metal and silicone hook built in, which makes clipping it to your backpack or gym bag incredibly easy, which makes it perfect for those into doing hikes.

The hook
On the side of the speaker, you'll find the essential function buttons: Power/Play/Pause, Pairing, Volume Down, and Volume Up. They're made from a rubber material that's well-integrated with the hard plastic body of the speakers. They're pretty straightforward and responsive, which is expected of portable Bluetooth speakers these days.

Controls
One design thing to note: if you're playing bass-heavy songs or watching content with heavy bass, the speaker can vibrate and bounce a bit on smooth surfaces like tables. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, but it was noticeable. A bit of extra rubber support on the back could've helped keep it more stable, but it's a minor quirk rather than a major flaw.
The IPX8 water resistance is a real plus too. This is ideal for those who bring portable speakers while they spend their summer days by the pool or at the beach, where getting splashed by water can be quite challenging to avoid.
Performance
Like what we previously mentioned above, the TOZO SoundGo sounds way better than its size and weight suggest. The 43.5mm driver delivers a rich, full sound that doesn't come across as thin or tinny—something we genuinely weren't expecting at first.
What really takes the audio experience to the next level is the TOZO App. You can connect wirelessly and adjust the EQ to suit whatever you're listening to or watching. We're not really experts on equalizers by any means, but the app makes it super easy to use with 32 built-in presets designed for different music genres and content types, including Standard, Bass, Classic, Dance, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Podcast, Relaxing, Country—you get the idea. There's basically a preset for every music genre and every type of video.
|
The app
For example, we tested this while watching a Markiplier "Let's Play" video, and we found out that the Podcast preset was genuinely the best setting for dialogue-heavy commentary videos. The clarity of his voice came through really well, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. You can also check out EQ recommendations from other TOZO users in the app, which is a nice touch if you're unsure where to start.
Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity is solid, with a 10m+ effective range, so you can move around without losing connection. You can also pair two speakers together if you want a stereo sound setup, which is a fun feature if you can get yourself another unit.
After using the speakers for quite some time, we found that the 32-hour battery life claim is realistic under the right conditions. We noticed that video playback drains more slowly than music, perhaps due to volume levels or codec differences.
You might see different battery drain depending on how loud you're playing it, what you're listening to, and how you're using it. Don't expect 32 hours with heavy, continuous use at maximum volume, but for casual listening throughout your day, you'll easily get well beyond what most portable speakers offer. The 1200mAh battery charges fully in about 3 hours via USB-C, which is pretty standard.
Pros - Surprisingly good audio quality for its size, lightweight, easy carry hook, long battery life, TOZO app, IPX8 rating, affordable price point
Cons - Bass vibration issue on smooth surfaces, battery life varies significantly depending on usage type and volume levels
