What is GPU Turbo though?

As we all move to a more visual centric approach in terms of smartphones, GPU performance becomes more and more important. Smartphone UIs are becoming more creative and beautiful every release.

If you pay attention, there are animations in almost every part of the UI. This can hamper a GPU's performance which GPU Turbo looks to minimize.

GPU Turbo looks to increase the GPU's Graphic Processing Efficiency on smartphones!

This will allow graphics heavy games without affecting the battery life dramatically. In terms of numbers and figures, Huawei claims that Honor's new tech manages to increase graphics processing efficiency by 60 percent while reducing the SoC power consumption by 30 percent.

Huawei even claimed that the mid-tier Honor smartphones with single-thread performance can beat a some of the flagships' multi-thread GPU performance.

In simpler terms, GPU Turbo will bring more performance to the table. That translates to higher frame-per-second rate in games, better special effects in-game and even boost HDR picture quality.

Honor was able to do this by restructuring the traditional graphics framework at the lower level system. The new tech will work through hardware-software integrated GPU acceleration. It will affect performance in graphic intensive games as well as AR and VR in the future once support for them are integrated.

GPU Turbo will be first exhibited by the Honor Play smartphone that was announced yesterday. In the near future, the Honor 10, Honor View 10, Honor 9 LiteHonor 9i 2018, and Honor 7X will get this as well.

In the near future, we will see if this GPU Turbo tech is really effective.

Are you excited for this GPU performance breakthrough?
