Android 9 Pie now official!
Android Pie!

The announcement has been made in the afternoon of August 06, 2018 (EDT) Eastern Time Zone, which is past midnight of August 07 in our local time. The American company has finally named the month-long debated Android "P", which is now known as the Android 9 Pie.

It has a new navigation system, screen-time controls, battery optimization, and privacy tweaks. According to Google's blog post, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a big role on this new operating system.

Google claimed that devices running on the Android P Beta will have the update to the Android 9 Pie in a timely manner. Most of the features of the Android Pie have been well-received in the Beta version.

The familiar lineup of three navigation icons at the bottom of the phone is now changed to a single, pill-shaped icon in the bottom center of the screen. The permanent back button is now gone.

Android Pie has now the feature called "Adaptive Battery". This works as a machine-learning material to ever-draining power cells. It studies the way you use your phone, the common apps you use, and optimizes your battery to adapt to your usage.

Onto privacy, the software update "restricts access to mic, camera and all SensorManager sensors from apps that are idle" according to Google. This just simply means that an app loses its access to your mic or camera once you switched to another app, and if it tries to access the aforementioned smartphone features, the OS will generate an error message.

If you own a Pixel phone, we have some good news for you. Android Pie will be available for download!

Other devices who participated in the Beta program from Sony, Xiaomi, Nokia, OPPO, Vivo, OnePlus, and Essential, and all qualifying Android One devices will receive the Android  P update by the end of this fall.

It will be available a number of other devices to launch or upgrade devices to Android 9 this year.
