Sony announces that the Xperia XZ3 will be 5G ready!

Aside from Xiaomi, Sony also confirmed that they are prepping to launch a smartphone with 5G connectivity.

The much awaited 5G ultra-fast mobile internet connectivity will be available with the Sony Xperia XZ3 flagship smartphone.

Is it really 5G ready?

At the IFA 2018, Sony introduced the Xperia XZ3 with the Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor.

However, the current top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 processor doesn't offer 5G yet. It only has the X20 LTE modem with up to 4G LTE Cat 18 download and Cat 13 upload speeds.

Qualcomm is expected to launch modems with 5G support for smartphones in 2019. 5G will be available globally in 2019 as well.

We do not know how Sony made it possible. Maybe Sony used a different modem to support 5G.

Other phone manufacturers like OPPO, Lenovo, Samsung, and Huawei are expected to launch phones with 5G connectivity next year.

In the Philippines, both Smart and Globe could make 5G available starting next year.
