HONOR Play 3 announced, punch-hole and 48MP triple-cam on a budget

Apart from the 20S, HONOR announced the Play 3. Interestingly, it is not the "flagship killer" follow-up to the first Play phone. Instead, it is a phone with a budget price tag, but competitive specs.

HONOR Play 3 uses a 2.5D curved glass back in black, blue, and red colors. It has a V-shaped gradient design as well.

In front, it uses a 6.39-inch 1560 x 720 HD+ punch-hole display. It is probably one of the most affordable with such type of screen.

Under the hood, it runs with the 12nm Kirin 710F processor paired with ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, up to 512GB via microSD card, and 4,000mAh battery with 10W micro USB charging.

The phone also features a triple-camera setup with 48MP f/1.8 main cam + 8MP f/2.4 ultra-wide cam + 2MP f/2.4 depth camera. For selfies, there's an 8MP f/2.0 snapper.

It comes with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and dual SIM slots.

The phone measures at 159.81 x 76.13 x 8.13 mm and weighs 176 grams.

The starting price of HONOR Play 3 is just CNY 999 (around PHP 7.2K) for the 4GB RAM/64GB version. 

The 4GB RAM/128GB and 6GB RAM/64GB versions retail for CNY 1,299 (around PHP 9.4K).

The phones are now available for pre-order in China and will be available from September 17.
