NCR lockdown stops motorcycle taxi operations

Following President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to put the National Capital Region under "community quarantine", the Department of Transportation Task Group released rules, which attempt to reduce the spread of the virus.

Under the Guidelines for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease, the motorcycle taxi pilot study would be suspended beginning March 15 to April 14.

This means the three registered firms such as Angkas, JoyRide, and Move It have to stop their operations during the lockdown period.

Multiple bookings for a single trip provided by transport network vehicle service would also be prohibited.

Yesterday, Grab Philippines said it decided to temporarily suspend its GrabShare service in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu to show support to the social distancing prescribed by the Health Department.

GrabShare service will resume as soon as the public health situation de-escalates. Other Grab transport services will remain to be available to serve our commuting public, Grab Philippines said in an advisory.

Stay safe everyone!
