Setting an all-time record of active users

Tim Cook announced that 1.65 billion Apple devices are in active use and that is considered to be a massive milestone for the tech giant.

This is not surprising since Apple old its billionth phone in 2016. Meanwhile. it reported that it had reached 900 million active iPhone users in January 2019.

What does it mean to be an active user? According to a spokesperson the company, a phone is active if it has engaged with an Apple service within the past 90 days. This definition would implicitly mean that an enormous number of the iPhones sold are still in active use.

A news report from two years ago said that analysts have an assumption that Apple is nearing its 1.9 billionth sale by the end of 2020. However, the company did not disclose if it was able to hit or surpass that mark.

Moreover, Apple was able to set an excellent revenue record for the last quarter of 2020 as it reaches USD 65 billion. According to the brand, there are more consumers who upgrade to the latest models than before.

Cook added that there's an enormous number of FaceTime calls during the Christmas season last year. He noted that this milestone is a big help in connecting families and friends during the pandemic.

Apple is continuously trying to innovate and widen its product line even with the increase in sales and usage. Analysts predicted that there's a trend of declining shipments and sales in smartphones and Apple is not an exception to this. However, this might prove that iPhone users are holding on to their devices for a long time.

Any thoughts on this?
