Apple's iPhone 12 mini DxO cam score

Like the iPhone 12, it goes with a 12MP f/1.6 main camera and 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide camera with an improved Night mode that now works even for the ultra-wide and selfie cam and the new Night timelapse.

Even better than some 2020 flagships!

According to DxOMark, the cameras of the iPhone 12 mini performed quite well. It achieved an impressive overall score of 122 points.

For Photos, the mini scored high with 132 points. For the Zoom, it managed to score 41 points. For Videos, it got 112 points. The average score is 122 which is high enough to compete with other flagship giants.

Even with a "mini" on its name the iPhone's camera proves to be great. In fact, it even has a better score compared to Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G with a score of 120 points, and just a tad behind from Mate 30 Pro 5G that scored 123 points.

As expected, like the iPhone 12 camera system, the mini showed identical scores in their DxOMark test. The 12 mini provided accurate target exposure, fast and accurate autofocus in both photo and video tests. The color rendering and skin tones looked decent. An efficient stabilization in video and having Dolby vision HDR processing is a plus.

The zoom is somewhat limited since it didn't have a dedicated telephoto lens though. The ultra-wide camera performed decently with only a slight loss in details.

DxO said that the dynamic range was limited and that highlights are clipped in most situations. The noise was frequently visible during low-light and indoor scenarios. Artifacts like flares and color quantization can be noticed as well in most scenarios.

What do you guys think?
