Xiaomi sues the US government

To recap, former US President Trump's administration accused Xiaomi of being a "Communist Chinese Military Company".

Xiaomi responded by saying that "the company has been in compliance with the law and operating in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations of jurisdictions where it conducts its businesses" and they are not "Communist Chinese Military Company".

The world's number 3 phone maker noted in its lawsuit that banning US investors from being able to take stakes in it would "cause immediate and irreparable harm" and would hurt its global reputation.

Similar to when Huawei was blacklisted (due to a different reason), the US government had not provided any evidence to back up the claim that it is a "Communist Chinese Military Company".

Huawei also sued the US government in 2019.

Financial Times reported that the designation of Chinese companies as CCMCs was part of a much broader and aggressive effort against Chinese entities that the US believes could hurt its own security.
