A budget 5G-ready phone for the global market!

POCO M3 Pro 5G will go official globally!

According to an Android Central interview with POCO global head Kevin Xiaobo Qiu and POCO global head of product marketing Angus Ng, the device will be the first with a 5G-ready smartphone in its M series and it will be the first POCO smartphone sold globally to be powered by a MediaTek Helio 5G chipset.

It will be a budget smartphone aiming to bring that next-gen connectivity technology to the masses.

Qiu added that the MediaTek used in the POCO M3 Pro is a "sizeable upgrade" coming from the Snapdragon 662 of the regular M3 suggesting a boost in performance. In its internal testing, the company claimed that the M3 Pro scored 329,072 at AnTuTu versus the 301,635 of the regular M3.

POCO shared that it will be powered by the 7nm MediaTek Dimenisty 700 octa-core processor with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and a built-in 5G modem.

M3 Pro will also have a high refresh rate for the first time in the M series, more RAM out of the box, a faster storage option, and 3 color options.

The device is also set to slot in at around a similar price point as the X3 NFC. In the Philippines, POCO X3 NFC currently retails around in the PHP 10K range. If POCO will also bring this into the country, it will likely be the new most affordable 5G-ready smartphone in town.

Apart from the POCO M3 Pro, the company shared that the POCO UI is coming later in 2021.
