Apple said that the iOS 15 brings new ways to stay connected and features that help users focus, explore, and do more.

What's new with iOS 15? Check these features.

In particular, the company shared major updates to Facetime, new Focus features to reduce distraction, on-device intelligence to discover information, and more ways to explore using Maps, Weather, and Wallet.

Apple notes that it now has a more natural FaceTime with spatial audio to make call sound as if the person is positioned on the screen, new microphone modes to separate the user's voice from background noise, and an iPhone-like Portrait mode (background blur) while doing video calls.

SharePlay is now integrated with FaceTime as well. With this, users can listen to songs together, watch a TV show or movie in sync, share screen to vide apps together, and more.

Apple added that this feature extends to Apple TV which will allow users to watch shows on a big screen over FaceTime and SharePlay 
via Disney+, ESPN+, HBO Max, Hulu, MasterClass, Paramount+, Pluto TV, TikTok, Twitch, and more.

FaceTime calls can now be shared via Messages, Calendar, Mail, or third-party apps, so anyone can join a FaceTime call from their web browser on Android and Windows devices. The company highlighted that FaceTime calls on the web remain end-to-end encrypted and your privacy won't be compromised.

To help its users focus and reduce distractions, iOS 15 now has a new Focus feature that filters notifications and apps based on what a user wants to focus on. Users can create a custom Focus or select "suggested Focus" that uses on-device intelligence to suggest which people and apps are allowed to notify them.

There are new notification experiences like adding contact photos for people and larger icons for apps making them easier to identify. With Apple's on-device intelligence, notifications will be arranged by priority as well.

Moving to on-device intelligence further, iOS 15 has Live Text to recognize a text in a photo and allow users to take action like search and locate the picture of a handwritten recipe or even capture a phone number from the store with the option to place a call. It can also quickly recognize and copy texts in a moment. It even has a Visual Look Up so users can learn more about popular art, landmarks, plants, pets, and even find books.

The Spotlight on iOS 15 now uses AI to search for photos by location, people, and even scenes using Live Text. It even now has a web search engine and rich results for actors and other personalities.

There is an enhanced result for contacts to show recent conversations, shared photos, and even their location if shared through Find My.

iOS 15 also updated photos with Memories that use with integration with Apple Music using AI to personalize song suggestions bringing memories to life.

Safari also gets a new design o make it easier to use with one hand and puts content front and center. There is a new compact and lightweight tab bar that now floats at the bottom of the screen, Tab Groups to allow users to save tabs and easily access them, a new customizable start page, and new web extensions on iOS.

Apple also improved Maps on iOS 15 with enhanced details in cities for neighborhoods, new road colors and labels, a new night-time mode with a moonlit glow, and a three-dimensional city-driving experience, among others.

iOS 15's Apple Wallet also has new support for an additional type of keys, redesigned water and notes apps, new privacy features and controls to help protect user information, and additional features to Siri, Shared with You, iCloud+, Health app, HomeKit, Find My, Translate, Apple TV app, New iPhone Setup, and Accessibility.

The iOS 15 is now available to developers today. The public beta will be available next month and the final software is expected to be released in the fall of 2021.
