OnlyFans will ban pornographic content soon

OnlyFans grew in popularity when the pandemic hit. Workers in the adult industry, musicians, and online influencers use the service to charge willing fans for exclusive content like photos, videos, and more. As of the moment, OnlyFans has more than 130 million users.

OnlyFans started as a forum for artists, fitness instructors, and chefs. Now, it has been a portal for adult industry workers to charge fans for sexually explicit content. There are also big celebrities here like Cardi B, Tyga, and Bella Thorne.

Banking partners and payment providers are now pressuring OnlyFans to bar sexual content. OnlyFans is currently trying to raise money from outside investors with a goal of more than USD 1 billion. This is for long-term sustainability according to the company.

Even though some see OnlyFans as unsung heroes that served as a safer place for adult industry workers to do their jobs, a lot still see sex work as a bad thing. OnlyFans saw around USD 2 billion in sales in 2020. The company keeps 20 percent of that.

The affected content creators relayed their disappointment as OnlyFans allows them to work and pay for their bills.
