FUJIFILM announces new FUJINON XF23 F1.4 II, XF33 F.4 LM WR, and new lens roadmap!

Alongside the new GFX50s II, FUJIFILM also announced several new lenses and an updated road map for the X and GFX series of cameras!

X-series lens roadmap as of September 2021

After announcing the XF 18 F1.4 R LM WR and XF 27 F2.8 R WR earlier this year, the FUJIFILM corporation expands the X-series with the new XF23mm F1.4 R LM WR and the XF33 F1.4mm F1.4 R LM WR. 

The two new prime lenses from FUJIFILM are made of magnesium alloy and are weather resistant that makes them both lightweight while being able to operate at up to -10 degrees Celsius. 

They also feature an Aperture ring (F1.4-16), Linear Motor AF systems (internal focusing) and a 58mm filter thread. Each features 15 elements in 10 groups with 2 aspherical elements and 3 ED elements. The 23mm weighs at just 375 grams while the 33mm weighs at 360 grams.

The Japanese company also surprised GFX fans and interested parties with the announcement of the new GFX50S II, the company's most affordable medium format camera yet. Alongside the new camera is the new GF35-70mm F4.5-5.6 WR kit lens.

After the new lenses, FUJIFILM fans can relish in the fact that there will be more lenses that will arrive soon as the company also by revealed that an XF18-120mm and an XF150-600mm are in the works. These two new lenses are expected to arrive in 2022. 

GFX series lens road map!

The company also revealed that three new lenses are in the works for the company's Medium Format line thru its new GF lens roadmap. In the roadmap, GFX fans can expect the new GF20-35mm (or 16-28mm 35mm full-frame equivalent) ultra-wide zoom lens later in 2022. While the upcoming GF55mm F1.7 (44mm full-frame equivalent) and a new tilt/shift lens are on the way. The new ultra-wide zoom and the new tilt/shift are the most requested lenses for the GFX line and it is good to know that fans can expect to have it in their hands soon.

It is worth mentioning that the roadmap is not final and changes can still happen. So take it with a grain of salt.

The FUJINON XF33mm F1.4 is expected to arrive at the end of September while the XF23mm F1.4 II and the LH-XF23II will arrive later in November 2021.
