In China, tech giant Xiaomi just unveiled the Redmi K50 Gaming. Based on its specs-to-price ratio, this could be the company's flagship killer phone this year.

Xiaomi launched the device in partnership Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team which brings a special edition model of the phone with the team's badge and colors.

At the back, the handset is boasting a futuristic-looking design with lines and accents made out of glass. Apart from the Mercedes edition, it is also available in Dream Blue, Silver, and Black colorways.

The frame is metal and it comes with a pair of physical game triggers on the right-hand side. In front, you will see a large 6.67-inch 10-bit AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, In-Display fingerprint reader, and a notch housing the 20MP Sony IMX596 selfie camera.

Inside, it is a beastly device. The Redmi K50 Gaming features the 3.0GHz 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 octa-core processor, a new-generation Adreno GPU, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage, and a large 4,700mAh battery with super-fast USB-C 120W fast charging.

According to Xiaomi, the handset can be fully charged from 0 to 100 percent in just 17 minutes. While playing a MOBA game, the company's demo showed that it only took 37 minutes to fully charge the device.

To keep the performance in check, Xiaomi is using a new dual vapor chamber (VC) cooling system, a copper radiator placed right on top of the chipset, dual graphite sheets, stainless steel, and mesh materials.

For the back cameras, it uses the capable 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP telemacro camera.

The device also has dual JBL-tuned stereo speakers, CyberEngine x-axis haptics motor, retractable shoulder triggers, WiFi 6E, 5G SA/NSA, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, dual SIM slots, and Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 skin on top.

China price with direct to PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):

The device will be available on sale in China starting February 18. There is no word regarding its international availability yet.
Open sales in China are scheduled for February 18. International pricing and availability were not disclosed yet.
