Meet POCO X4 GT

As a recap, the POCO X4 GT is priced at PHP 18,990 here in the Philippines. It features a 144Hz 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS screen, MediaTek Dimensity 8100 octa-core processor, Mali-G610 GPU, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,080mAh battery with 67W fast charging.

It also has a triple-camera setup at the back with a 64MP f/1.89 main sensor + 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide-angle sensor + 2MP f/2.4 macro sensor with LED flash. It also has a 16MP f/2.45 front camera.

Unboxing/Accessories

What's in the box?
What's in the box?

The POCO X4 GT came in a box sporting the brand's Black and Yellow color scheme. Opening the box, you will be greeted by the device itself, a screen protector, a transparent protective case, SIM eject tool, USB-C charging cable, and the 67W wall adapter.

The screen protector, although FREE, is not pre-installed. It doesn't come with a free pair of wired earphones as well even when the X4 GT has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Overall, it has an almost complete package.

Build Quality/Design

This is a premium looking back for the price!
This is a premium looking back for the price!

The POCO X4 GT is made out of plastic, metal, and glass. The back is polycarbonate with a finish that resembles something like frosted glass. It does not attract fingerprints and can be easily cleaned. It is a bit on the slippery side though so be careful.

Out of the box, the POCO X4 GT looks more premium for the asking price. It is unassuming and a bit stealthy in terms of the specs it is packing. It has a small POCO branding with 5G markings as well as some regulatory icons.

There is a rectangular camera hump with a different texture, On that hump, you will see three smaller circular cutouts for the sensors arranged in a triangular formation. The camera circles are protected by the glass as well. Lastly, there's the LED flash.
Good looking screen with 144Hz refresh rate!
Good looking screen with 144Hz refresh rate!

In front, it has the 6.6-inch IPS panel with a 2460 x 1080 FHD+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, 7-stage DynamicSwitch, a 270Hz touch sampling rate, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, Dolby Vision, 650 nits peak brightness, and 407 ppi pixel density. It also has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

There is a top-center punch-hole housing the selfie camera. This gives the screen a symmetrical look that is pleasing to the eyes.

The frame of the device is made out of metal with a flat look than typical devices. We found it comfortable to grip which makes up for the slippery surface at the back.
Top, bottom
Top, bottom

On top, you will find the 3.5mm headphone jacks, one of the speakers, and a microphone.

At the bottom, you will find the USB-c port, another speaker grille, a microphone, and the SIM card tray slot. The SIM card tray also has a rubber gasket for protection against water splashes. We still don't recommend getting it wet.
Left, right
Left, right

On the left, it is a clean slate while the right holds the power/fingerprint button and volume keys.

We also tried the cameras that sport a triple-sensor array with 64MP f/1.89 main sensor + 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide-angle sensor + 2MP f/2.4 macro sensor with LED flash. For selfies, it also has a 16MP f/2.45 front camera.

The camera app features Pro mode, Photo Mode, Video Mode, Document, Portrait Mode, Night Mode, 64MP mode, Short Video, Panorama, Vlog mode, Slow Motion, Timelapse mode, Long Exposure, and Clone.

As expected the POCO X4 GT did not disappoint. The main camera performed well while the 8MP ultra-wide performed well with great lighting. Macro mode leaves a lot on the table but can be decent in daylight.

The main camera shined at night. Without Night Mode, it delivered clear images with no noise. Night Mode is highly detailed with natural-looking brightness enhancement. The contrast and saturation in all situations came out great as well.

The selfie camera has a wide FOV and performs well in good lighting. We did see a bit of a red tint in our first sample shots.

As of the moment

AnTuTu score!
AnTuTu score!

The POCO X4 GT makes for a case to be one of, if not the best device, under PHP 20K. It features a premium-looking design with specs rivaling those around the PHP 25K range and above. That is wild!

The screen is almost-flagship level with it being an IPS panel being the only caveat. The performance is very fast due to its MTK Dimensity 8100 octa-core processor with good thermal management due to the LiquidCool Technology 2.0 system.

The large battery also allows users to do more with its power and features. The 67W fast charging capability will also replenish the battery quickly if the need arises. The camera system is also capable however a higher resolution ultra-wide-angle sensor and a dedicated telephoto instead of a macro sensor could be better.

Overall, our first impressions are great and we are currently enjoying our time with POCO X4 GT!

What do you guys think?
