A lot of people in the world, more so in the Philippines, would opt to accompany their outdoor activities with music. May it be your morning commute, a simple outdoor jogging session, or even a bike ride. This entails you having your sunglasses on while having a separate headset or headphones on. Smart Eyewear aims to simplify things by merging these two devices into one. Essentially, Smart Eyewear is a pair of glasses with Bluetooth and Speakers but the Blaze Lite extends that further.

In the box, you would see the Blaze Lite sunglasses, lens case, a USB-A to the micro USB charging cable, manuals, and the warranty card.

Polarized Lenses on the Blaze Lite

Given that these are sunglasses, they are designed to accommodate the outdoor lifestyle. The Blaze lite follows a wayfarer-type shape and showcases polarized lenses for UV protection. Though the frame is made of plastic, it feels very sturdy to the touch. The arms are kind of bulky given the electronics it houses. It provides a snug fit that might take some getting used to but not to the point that it is bothersome. The subtle lines and the matte finish also help soften the thickness visually.

Lite on the budget but not on function!

These spectacles come with Bluetooth 5.0 and can maintain connectivity within 12 meters. In terms of audio, the Blaze Lite applies 2x uni-directional speakers on both arms pointed in the direction of your ears and follows an open-ear design so you can listen to music while being aware of your surroundings. The downside of this design is that you are not going to get amazing audio quality, especially with external ambient sounds.

Though the audio quality isn't on the best end of the spectrum, the FLEEK Blaze Lite does provide a good experience for the price. Given that it's open-ear design the treble note are a bit muffled and sometimes underwhelming. Bass and mids are good and crisp. However, some jitters could be noticeable on max volume. Our suggestion is to stay within the 70-80 percent volume range for best quality.

Of course, it has zero isolation as well. The advantage of that is you will be aware of your surroundings all the time.

It also houses a built-in microphone so you can answer calls on the go. The mic is sensitive to clearly relay your voice but has limited noise canceling function so some ambient noise may spill through.

Touch sensor

The touch sensor is on the right-hand side and controls the volume. The multi-function button that is found directly under the touch sensor controls playback, answers/drops calls, and triggers voice assistant functionality like Bixby, Siri, etc. For a package that is under 1,500 Php, this device has a lot of offerings.

On a continuous audio playthrough, the device lasted 3.5 hours on mid-volume which is within the advertised range and is more than enough for day-to-day commutes or bike runs. Charging time takes 1-2 hours and used a micro USB port.

Quick thoughts

We find the FLEEK Blaze Lite to be an amazing device on a budget. Though it is on the "lite" end of the budget category, you are still able to utilize what a smart eyewear is and more. If you are the type that likes to wear sunglasses and listen to music at the same time, having the opportunity to be untethered to one less device is a comfort all on its own.

The audio quality is good for the price and the style and polarized lenses do give off a premium quality. The battery life is a bit short but understandable. If you like want to blast your "workout" motivation rock music during a morning run or just simply listen to music during a mid-day commute? Then the Blaze Lite is a fitting companion and being budget-friendly to boot.
