Globe hit the 11-million mark today Monday, January 30, 2023, a month after the
SIM Registration Act was rolled out.

To recap, the SIM Registration Act is a law mandating all Filipinos to register their SIMs to help stop cybercrime including scam messages that proliferated due to the anonymity provided by prepaid SIMs.

The deadline for registration is on April 26, so Globe is urging its customers to comply.

The estimated total number of Globe subscribers is 87.4 million. So, about 76.4 million Globe users still need to register.

Those who will fail to register will have a deactivated SIM card that cannot do or accept calls, send or receive messages, have access to the internet, and check load balances.

Globe also announced that Registration via the GlobeOne app will begin in February. There will be exclusive offers and deals that are available only in the app.

The company also recently provided support for government-led assisted registration in priority sites nationwide from January 25 to 27 with booths in 15 areas and assisted anyone who needed help including PWDs and those who are using basic/feature phones.

Globe has also started rolling out its own on-site assistance booths across the country in 30 Puregold branches in in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao aside from the NTC-led SIM registration. Soon, the SIM registration assisted will be available in other locations too.

Globe also claimed that even before the new law was implemented, they have taken several steps to curb disruptive messages through proactive blocking, threat intelligence partnerships with financial institutions, a customer reporting portal, plus an awareness and education campaign to help customers with online protection.

We are grateful to our customers for promptly registering their SIMs. We understand the importance of addressing the proliferation of scam and spam messages and have made it our priority to provide our customers with a seamless registration process. We are committed to meeting the deadline and continuing our efforts to protect our customers from scammers and fraudsters, said Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.
