Microsoft officially announced that they are ditching the support for the older generation of Windows.
The American tech company says it's time to bid farewell to Windows 7 and 8 as they are now outdated and won't be receiving security updates.
Windows 7 support actually ended back in 2020 but the action took a hit for businesses and Microsoft gave them a chance to transition to the newer generation of the operating systems by extending 3-year support for an additional charge. Now the time is up and no more exceptions.
Based on third-party data, there is only about 10 percent of PCs worldwide rely on the 7th gen Windows, while Windows 8 is way less. That's likely the reason why Microsoft is ending it for both OS.
In the meantime, Windows 10 is the most stable for now and Windows 11 is slowly getting updated. Microsoft highly recommends upgrading now to avoid unwanted security threats on your computers.
What do you guys think? Have you updated yet?
