The mobile wallet assured its customers that they do not have to worry as their accounts remain safe.

GCash and its parent company also encouraged users to register their SIM numbers which can help in the fight against scammers.

Telcos, who are the only ones authorized to handle SIM registration, will also never ask for GCash details, the company noted.

For Globe users, registration can be done through https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg for prepaid users or sending "SIMREG" to 8080 for postpaid users.

A valid government-issued ID is also needed.

On Tuesday, GCash was placed under maintenance after reports that some users lost their funds on the platform.

GCash said no hacking occurred and assured affected customers that the deduction will be returned within the day.
