Disney+ follows Netflix in cracking down password sharing, increases prices in the US!
Disney+ follows Netflix's footsteps in battling the password-sharing schemes of their users.

No more password sharing for Disney+ too?
The news came in when Disney CEO Bob Iger briefly mentioned its plans to restrict account users from sharing their passwords beginning in 2024.
We’re actively exploring ways to address account sharing and the best options for paying subscribers to share their accounts with friends and family,” the executive said on Wednesday during the company’s earnings call. “Later this year, we will begin to update our subscriber agreements with additional terms and our sharing policies
Bob says the new customer policy with regard to account sharing will start by 2023. However, he didn't mention any more details pertaining to that. Right now, it is still vague if the service will take the same route as how Netflix has denied account sharing based on location. It is also unclear whether Disney+ will introduce paid sharing choices just as Netflix has done so far.

Furthermore, the streaming platform has increased its prices on its Premium plans. Beginning Oct 12, 2023, Disney+ with zero ads will increase from USD 10.99 (around PHP 617) to USD 13.99 (around PHP 786.11).
On the other hand, HULU a streaming platform with 67 percent owned by Disney will also increase its plans from USD 14.99 to USD 17.99 (around PHP 800 to 1K).
Another announcement from Disney is its intention to expand its ad-supported tier plans to select regions like Europe and Canada starting November 1. For EMEA markets and Canada, there will also be a Standard tier and Standard w/ ads plan which will cost GBP 4.99 (around PHP 355) and USD 7.99 in Canada (around PHP 334).
Right now it is unclear if the Philippines will have a price increase too or when the crackdown will begin. We will update you once there's a notice about it.
