"iMessage" in Android phones soon?

In a video posted on Nothing's YouTube account, CEO Carl Pei sat down with Inverse Senior Editor James Pero to discuss the green bubble/blue bubble divide in the US as well as the launch of Nothing Chats, a way to send iMessages from your Phone (2).

Pei said they conducted an analysis and found out that many of their Nothing Ear users are iPhone users. Meanwhile, the majority of Nothing's smartphone users did not really switch from iPhone but "overwhelmingly" from Android.

This means that many iPhone users like their earbuds but not their smartphones.

Pei said this may be due to a barrier that prevents Apple users from switching. He said he asked his friends, who mostly talked about iMessage.

The Nothing executive said: "We were like, 'How can we do something about this?’'"

Pei said they started looking into the problem. The Sunbird team was also tapped to develop the technology behind Nothing Chats.

Generally, Nothing Chats will have the same features as iMessage.

In short, Nothing Chats offers iMessage compatibility. It includes blue bubble messaging, full support for group chat messaging, live typing indicators, full-resolution media sharing, and voice notes.

The other features coming soon are read receipts, message reactions, and replies.

He assured users that no data would be saved on the platform since it would be local on the device.

Pero asked: Are you going to piss Apple off?

I'm working under the assumption that Tim Cook is going to watch this video, Pei responded.

What do you think about this?
