LEICA has introduced the 3rd iteration of its smartphone series "Leitz".

Unlike the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, this is a soley Leica brand phone with again a focus on camera technology. This device is also made possible through the help of Sharp, which could probably be the main reason why it's exclusive in Japan only.

As the primary spotlight, this LEICA Leitz Phone 3 features 1-inch type sensor with 47.2MP with 19mm equivalent f/1.9 lens. Additionally, there's 14ch spectrum sensor to achieve accurate color representation. Using the google translate in Japanese text says "it is possible to determine the light conditions and shoot with more faithful colors".

Meanwhile it incorporates Summilux 28mm (wide), Summilux 35mm, and Noctilux 50mm lenses.

It also comes with variable aperture with f/1.4 to f/8.0 to extend the range of photographic expression.

Furthermore, it comes with LEICA color filters ranging from original, monochrome, cinema classic, cinema contemporary, enhanced and vivid.

In terms of design, it comes with traditional Black leather material at the back bearing the logo of the brand in Red color.

At the front, it is equipped with 6.6-inch IGZO OLED screen with 2760 x 1260 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits of max brightness.

Inside, it has 3.2GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 octa-core processor with New Adreno GPU, 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

For battery, it has 5,000mAh capacity that charges via USB-C cable and unknown power adaptor. Although LEICA claimed it will only take 100 minutes to fully charge the device.

The rest noted are IP65 and IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth GPS, dual SIM (nano + eSIM) combo.

For OS, the phone runs Android 14 out of the box.

The official price is still uknown but it will go on sale on April 19, 2024 in Japan. It will also ship with a lens cap and a matching case to compliment the whole camera phone concept. We will update this article once the price is available.
