Starlink Mini now official: Can fit in a backpack, and promises high-speed, low-latency internet on the go

Elon Musk's satellite internet firm Starlink recently launched the "Starlink Mini".

The Starlink Mini is the company's newest portable satellite internet kit that provides "high-speed, low-latency internet on the go" that can even fit inside a backpack.

It is a laptop-sized satellite dish with a WiFi router inside capable of delivering speeds of 50 to over 100 Mbps. Due to its size, it is understandably lower than the standard Starlink models.

In particular, the device supports WiFi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) with Dual Band 3 x 3 MU-MIMO radio. It can also connect up to 128 devices and is compatible with all Starlink mesh systems.

The listed coverage is up to 112 m² (1,200 ft²) in a field of view of 110 degrees.

Musk on X (formerly Twitter) said that it only took him 5 minutes to set up the device and this "product will change the world".

It also has IP67 water and dust resistance support suggesting that it is quite weatherproof.

The input rating is 12-48V at 60W and has support for USB-C PD charging up to 100W at 20V/5A. This means that it could be powered even by a power bank the Anker Prime.

The device measures 430 x 334 x 79 mm and weighs 6.37 kg. The power supply with IP66 Type 4 rating measures 91 x 44 x 51 mm and weighs 0.2 kg. 

International price with direct-to-PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):

Starlink Mini - USD 599 (around PHP 35.2K)

In the US, the device alone is priced at USD 599 making it USD 100 more expensive than the standard dish. 

To add the Mini Roam service to existing USD 120 Residential plans with 50GB of mobile data per month, there is an extra USD 30 per month fee.

The device is now official in the US for USD 599. In other regions like Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama, it is more affordable at USD 200 (around PHP 11.7K).

It is not yet available on the official Starlink Philippines website.
