The new global OPPO Find X8 Series will officially launch on November 21, 2024. The flagship of that line is the Find X8 Pro. |
OPPO Find X8 Pro with Hasselblad cameras |
The OPPO Find X8 Pro showcases a brand new Hasselblad Master Camera System paired with bleeding-edge overall specs, modern aesthetics, and an array of new useful AI functions to make our lives easier.
Ahead of its launch, I was able to unbox a unit, and here's our first look at the new top-of-the-line smartphones.
Unboxing/Accessories
|
The OPPO Find X8 Pro box |
The silver packaging is similar to what we've seen with other premium OPPO phones in the past.
|
Everything inside the packaging |
Inside, you will see another carton box containing the TPU clear case freebie, SIM ejector tool, and paper documents.
Next, you'll uncover the handset in all its glory. A closer look reveals a pre-installed plastic screen protector.
After that, it has the 80W power brick and the charging cable. What I unboxed uses a UK plug suggesting it will launch in the United Kingdom.
At least it still has a super-fast charger included in the package unlike some of the mainstream brands with high-end phones like Samsung and Apple.
Build Quality/Design
|
Full back design |
The handset is undeniably stunning right off the bat. This definitely uses high-quality slightly curved glass at the back, a matte textured metal frame, and a 2.5D curved glass display.
Note that OPPO hasn't shared the official global specs of the Find X8 Pro yet, but if this is the same in China, it'll have some top-of-the-line IP rating protection and OPPO Crystal Shielf protection.
|
Full back design 2 |
In terms of design, the unit we got is in a beautiful white colorway with a frosted finish and a marble-like paint job underneath.
OPPO continued using a circular camera layout with a finish that will remind you of several high-end watches. It has a Hasselblad logo in the middle and the "Orange Dot" branding for the lenses.
The device has a total of four cameras. We see a primary f/1.8 main shooter, an ultra-wide camera, and 2x periscope cameras. This camera system shoots 15 to 135mm.
Based on the print, it uses OPPO's HyperTone Image Engine tech to preserve highlights, shadows, and mid-tones with a natural look.
|
A stunning "flatter" display |
In front, it is sporting a 2.5D curved panel with tiny bezels on all sides for a more immersive viewing experience. This has fewer curves than the 3D curved display of the Find X7 Ultra. It seems like OPPO is prioritizing function over form now and I'm not complaining.
A more "functional" "flatter" display
The display also has a top-center punch-hole cutout to house its selfie camera. From there, it has an Apple iPhone-like dynamic island effect for "Live Alerts" on supported apps.
My first impressions? This is a very good and bright display with really crisp details. Top notch.
There is a hidden ear speaker on top of the display that also acts as the secondary speaker of the phone to complete a "stereo sound".
|
Top view |
On top, it even has an IR Blaster remote control for home appliances aside from the microphone. Below, you'll see the SIM tray for two (2) nano-SIMs, another microphone hole, and the primary speaker.
|
Bottom view |
On the left, OPPO added the OnePlus alert slider (OPPO owns OnePlus so it is not surprising at all).
|
Left and right |
On the right side, there is a new "Camera Control" button that opens the camera app with a double tap, can be used as a shutter key for photos or videos, and has a capacitive touch for sliding zoom. This feature is similar to what the iPhone 16 Pro phones can do to take photos and videos better.
My professional coffee weighing scale shows that it weighs 216.3 grams.

OPPO logo on the Find X8 Pro |
At first glance, the device is simply stunning. It feels incredibly premium, combining the best aspects of many high-end Android and Apple designs.
If it matches the specifications of its Chinese variant, we're looking at one of the best all-around flagships on the market today.
In my brief time with it, I believe this could be Android's true answer to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
While it's uncertain if this model will launch in the Philippines, I am very impressed. This is the most refined Android experience I’ve had to date.
We will be allowed to share actual camera samples, benchmarks, and the full review after its launch date.
Stay tuned.
