Premium performance made affordable?

The firm says this chip is designed to deliver high-end performance for devices at a more accessible price point.

Manufactured on a 3nm process, the 8 Gen 5 incorporates Qualcomm's 3rd-gen Oryon CPU. The configuration includes two high-performance cores clocked at 3.8GHz and six additional performance cores at 3.32GHz.
The features

Performance metrics provided by Qualcomm benchmark the new chip against the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, citing a 36 percent increase in CPU performance, an 11 percent improvement in GPU output, and a 46 percent gain in AI tasks. The company also claims a 13 percent reduction in overall SoC power consumption.

The chip features the same sliced Adreno 840 GPU with Frame Motion Engine 3.0 as the Elite model, though it omits the Adreno High-Performance Memory (HPM) technology.

Furthermore, it also includes the Hexagon NPU for on-device AI processing and supports multi-modal input. Additional components are the Spectra ISP and the X80 5G Modem-RF System, which was also used in the previous generation flagship.
The clockspeed

OnePlus is expected to be the first manufacturer to launch a device with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, reportedly in an upcoming Ace 6T or 15R model. Other brands, including iQOO, Motorola, and vivo, are also anticipated to release phones featuring the new chip in the near future.
