NASA astronauts have unsurprisingly brought iPhone 17 Pro Max phone to the Artemis II mission to loop around the moon and fly back to Earth.

AND what will most do if they have an iPhone during a trip? Snap a selfie.

That's what exactly NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Reid Wiseman did.
In a Tweet on "X," NASA said
This view just hits different
@Astro_Christinaband @astro_reid take a moment to look back at Earth as they continue deep into space toward the Moon.
In total, the crew shot 3 selfies using the iPhone 17 Pro Max (starts at PHP 86,990 SRP). The iPhone 17 Pro Max uses an 18MP with Center Stage support.
For a selfie camera, the shots that NASA astronauts took are pretty good. It shows the details and colors of the earth pretty well from the window of the spacecraft and it created a dramatic sihloutte effect on the face of the astronauts.

AppleInsider reported that the crew is using Velcro to mount the iPhones in place the zero-g enfiroment. There is also at least one stuffed into a pocket in one crew member's flight suit.
The New York Times reported that NASA has very strict rules on the items that can be brought in space.
The process unfolds in four phases: first, the hardware must pass the safety panel and initial checks; second, hazards such as moving parts or fragile materials are identified; third, plans are devised to mitigate those risks; and finally, the effectiveness of those plans is verified.
In fact, the other cameras on board on this mission are an old Nikon D5 and a "decade-old" GoPro.
What do you guys think?
