PayPal panel discussion about Freelancing in PH |
PayPal held an event that identified insights from the growing 1.5 million freenlancing Filipinos. A panel discussion with Luarni Sim (MessyMaru), Shahab Shabibi (MyKuya), and Nick Padilla (Kahon.ph) was the highlight. They have answered related questions from the Facebook live audience and from us, the media.

Tips from these three mentioned that our Social Media platforms must present us well online. Because these three freelancing heads personally view their applicants' background via their SNS besides the resume. Altogether Sim, Shabibi, and Padilla admitted that they are looking forward for these remote workers but will not leave the traditional office behind since there are some jobs that really needs to be done on-site.
Millenials will occupy the majority of the global workforce in three years. They are the on-go generation, with highly differentiated preferences when it comes to work. They like working from home and value autonomy. That's why freelancing comes naturally to them," said Nagesh Devata, General Manager, for PayPal Southeast Asia Cross-Border Trade.
In line with this, PayPal Freelancer Community Program added three new influencers from their four last year who will help mentor aspiring freelancers. They are: Jason Dulay (Work From Home Roadmap), Anton Diaz (Our Awesome Planet), and Manuel Schuster (Digital Nomad).
