To recall, Huawei and Leica have forged a long-term partnership in 2016 in order to achieve the best possible imaging results in the field of smartphone photography.

The first fruit of its labor is the Huawei P9, the handset that arguably put Huawei on the mobile photography map. Since then, Huawei and Leica have produced numerous P and Mate Series smartphones with Leica's camera expertise and camera UI design.
Leica's camera branding because a key selling point of high-end Huawei devices as well.

One of the most notable fruits of the partnership is the Huawei P20 Pro, the world's first with new-generation handheld Night mode. Huawei and Leica also introduced the first handset with a periscope-style superzoom, the P30 Pro, and the first phone with a pair of 40MP shooters for photos and videos, the Mate 30 Pro.

Just recently, Huawei launched the Mate 40 family with a new generation of Ultra Vision Leica cameras. As of writing, the Mate 40 Pro is the world's highest-rated camera at DxOMark's ranking.

Huawei's firm denial of the partnership end suggests that Huawei and Leica will continue to produce very competitive camera phones in the future.
