Leica launches the second generation of its smartphone called which boasts significant upgrades.
To recall, the German camera maker has partnered with Sharp and Softbank to create its own version of a smartphone (LEITZ Phone 1).
Now its successor comes to light which boasts a 47.2MP 1-inch f/1.9 primary rear camera. It is also coupled with a 1.9MP depth helper. You will see them in a huge circular camera island at the back that resembles a lens akin to a DLSR camera.
It is also accompanied by a camera app that includes features such as the Leitz looks, which stimulates the Leica M lenses. Of course, it is based on the Leica camera UI and lets you choose the Leica M series shutter sound and filters.
Moving forward, the phone is based on Sharp's Aquos R7. Therefore it has a 6.6-inch 10-bit 240HZ OLED IGZO screen with 2,730 x 1260 resolution, 2K peak brightness, Dolby Vision support, and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Inside, it uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 octa-core processor with a new-gen Adreno. It is paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.
Powering the unit will be a 5,000mAh battery that charges using USB-C power delivery (unspecified) and wireless charging support.
Its front-facing shooter uses 12.6MP for selfies or video calls.
The rest are a 3.5mm headphone jack, IP68 rating, 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, and NFC.
For software, it runs Android 12 with a custom Leica interface.
