Is this game-changing?

Canon initially brought the EOS R6 back in August 2020. More than two years later, the Japanese manufacturer has officially unveiled the next generation of the EOS R6 Mark II.

The new camera features a 24.2MP CMOS full-frame sensor paired with the Digic X processor. It has an ISO range of 100 to 102,400 and the sensor is 5-axis stabilized for up to 8 stops. It outputs photos into either JPEG, RAW or HEIF and will store them to two SD card slots.

It has over 1053-cross-type Phase Detect autofocus points and features subject tracking.

At the back is a 3-inch 1.62 Million-dot fully-articulating touchscreen LCD display. Above it is a 0.5-inch 3.69 Million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with 100 percent coverage.

It has a minimum shutter speed of 30 seconds and a maximum shutter of 1/8000 sec.

The camera can capture up to 6K RAW thru HDMI out and up to 4K 60fps (6K Oversampling) internally.

Footage can be recorded with Canon Log 3 which the company says offers smooth gradation in high contrast which makes it versatile because of its high editing tolerance during post-production.

Other features include zebra display, false color and focus breathing correction.

The company says that the combination of Optical, In-body and Movie Digital image stabilization can suppress a 'large' amount of shake or movement that usually occurs when recording footage while walking.

A welcome surprise is that the EOS R6 Mark II is livestream ready and can be used as an external camera or webcam with the USB Video Class/USB Audio Class. It is plug-and-play via USB on any Windows or MacOS computer.
