OPPO Find X9 Unboxing, First Look, Camera Samples - Android sweet spot?

The new OPPO Find X9 Series just entered the game, making the rejuvenated high-end smartphone market even more exciting and competitive than ever.
This is the new OPPO Find X9

It comes in two models—the base Find X9 and the Find X9 Pro.

The unit that I have, one of the first here in the Philippines and outside of China, is the base Find X9.

This is the Find X9, catered for those looking for a high-end unit with almost no compromises without the massive screen size of most Pro and Ultra flagships, making it more compact and easier to pocket and carry around.

Let's have a look...

Unboxing/Accessories

The unboxing experience is similar to other higher-end OPPO devices. You get the silver grey box with the nice TPU protective case inside, paper documentation, the Find X9 itself with a pre-installed screen protector, SIM ejector tool, 80W SUPERVOOC brick, and USB-A to USB-C data/charging cable.

Except for the lack of earphones (nearly every brand is not offering it in-box anymore), this is a near-complete package.

Build Quality/Design

Coming from the Find X8, the major design change lies in the camera island. OPPO replaced the massive circular bump with a smaller, top-left-aligned, semi-rounded rectangle camera bump.

The company made that possible while upgrading the primary camera from Sony LYT-700 to the larger and more advanced Sony LYT-808 with a brighter f/1.6 lens for better overall imaging. There is also another 50MP ultra-wide camera and the 50MP tele lens, as well as the 9-channel multi-spectral sensor (True Color Camera).

The body is mostly made of metal and glass. The back and front glass are protected by OPPO Crystal Shield Glass. The colors available are Titanium Grey and Space BlackThe frosted glass back features anti-fingerprint properties, helping the phone maintain a clean, smudge-free look throughout daily use.

As expected from a modern high-end smartphone, it has an IP66 rating for water jets, an IP68 rating for submersion, and an IP69 rating for hot water jets.

In front, it uses a 6.59-inch 120Hz AMOLED flat screen, a similar size to the Find X8. However, unlike the Pro model, it doesn't use the LTPO solution with a variable refresh rate of 1–120Hz—the only minor downside I've noticed so far. Instead, it offers fixed options of 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz.

Otherwise, this is a very bright display with up to 3600 nits peak brightness. It now has ultra-thin 1.15mm symmetrical bezels on four sides, making its panel look more premium and more immersive than ever.

Amazingly thin bezels!

This also retained a top-center notch. The In-Display fingerprint reader on the lower part of the panel uses the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The device measures 157.9 x 74.73 x 7.99 mm, and my precision scale recorded a weight of 204.5 grams. It's only slightly larger and heavier than the previous generation, which is impressive considering the battery capacity jumped from 5,630mAh to a whopping 7,050mAh—a 1,420mAh boost that will likely improve overall battery performance.

The other new feature is the Snap Key on the left. You can use it to access the AI Mind Space, Sound & Vibration, Do Not Disturb, Camera, Flashlight, Recorder, Translate, and Screenshot, depending on what you need and like.

The rest of the buttons and ports are in familiar places. It has a speaker on top and a button for stereo sound, 4x microphones (1x on top, 2x below, 1x on the camera bump), USB-C below, volume rocker + power key at right.

Note that there is no microSD slot for storage expansion.

Obviously, I haven't really explored the Hasselblad camera system of the phone that much. But the initial shots are showing a lot of promise—particularly in color accuracy. Shots from this phone across all sensors are some of the most consistent and true-to-life I've used on a phone.

As expected, the primary camera is the best camera of the handset, capable of delivering extra-crisp yet natural-looking shots. The ultra-wide is also showing great signs so far, with minimal distortion and good HDR capabilities.

The zoom quality is actually good and lossless up to 6x hybrid. Most will enjoy using this with close-up shots, as it can do macro zooms. My early Portrait snaps are also quite good.

It shines with minimal noise in dim bar lighting, even if you do 3x zoom snaps.

While it is still using a 32MP shooter in front, it can take highly detailed selfies indoors with decent lighting.

I briefly tried the video shooting capabilities of this phone, and it has decent stabilization, even for selfies. It can record up to 4K 120fps with its ultra-wide, primary camera, zoom, and selfie camera can shoot up to 4K 60fps.

I'm pretty excited to further test its cameras and video shooting capabilities, particularly the 120fps mode that might be great for smooth slow-motion footage.

Quick thoughts

So far, I think the OPPO Find X9 is more than enough for most users, whether casual users or even demanding creators and power users.

On my first day with it, it immediately impressed me with how the company was able to put all these 2025 flagship-worthy specs and features, particularly the processor, cameras, and massive battery, without making the phone look bulky.

Dimensity 9500 is really fast, and the over 7,000mAh battery is legit so far!

The build is undeniably as good, if not better than many flagship phones, and the design is not as loud as before, akin to my personal liking.

As expected, the display is super bright and nice, the performance is silky smooth, the battery is robust, and the cameras have been improved, coming from my flagship foldable.

Obviously, I'm not yet done tinkering with the phone. But to keep it short, I'm genuinely impressed with nearly everything I'm seeing on this phone so far.

This might be the Android sweet spot of 2025.

There is no concrete information on the OPPO will bring it to the Philippines and how much it will cost yet.

The phone will debut globally in Barcelona, Spain, on October 28, 2025.

Stay tuned for our full feature and review.
