Designed for content creators so they can highlight their favorite posts

Allegedly, reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi discovered the feature being tested as he spotted it as early as January. Then, the social media platform confirmed to TechCrunch that it is trying out a new feature that lets users pin specific posts to their profile above their photo grid.

However, this is currently in the testing phase so it is showing up for selected users. Those who have access to the feature are seeing a "Pin to your profile" option that they can select from the three-dot menu next to posts. Meta spokesperson announced thru an email,

We're testing a new feature that lets people feature posts on their profiles.

This feature might be useful for users who wish to spotlight favorite posts that are buried someplace in their profile's photo grid. Although you can currently highlight a post in a Story and then pin that story to your profile, this new feature would make that process a lot easier and more straightforward.

This function is especially beneficial for producers who make a lot of posts but wish to highlight a few of them. This is already present in TikTok may pin a video to the top of their profile. It also enables artists to highlight the most significant videos and material.

The source noted that this feature is part of Instagram's push to become creator-friendly.  Adam Mosseri has been announcing almost every week a new function that will provide a better experience for those who use Instagram to promote their own content.

In addition to this, Instagram is reportedly testing new functionality that will make it easier for users to discover and support social causes directly through hashtags.

When they search for specific hashtags related to specific social movements, they will have the chance to support them through new options. The company is rolling out the new feature to select hashtags focused on popular movements on the platform, including #BlackLivesMatter, #womensrights, and #climatecrisis.

There's no specific date yet for the rollout of these features so we'll have to wait for the official announcement from Instagram.
